Art

I don’t blog much these days.I guess I got out of the habit over the last few years. These days I have been painting a lot. So I was thinking maybe I could combine the two and show off some of my favorites here.

I work with fluid acrylic paints. I pour them on the canvas and then manipulate the paints with various tools and techniques. The above Dutch pour is a technique where the colors are blown out with a hairdryer. This causes the different colors to interact, creating interesting and colorful effects.

This in another Dutch pour that really makes me happy! The colors mixed so well. In person, the paints are pearl and metallic and have pretty shimmers.

I sold this one at a recent art show! (I’m a “real” artist y’all! lol) I used “the world’s smallest leaf blower” to create the blooms, and pieces of paper to swipe the bottom half creating the impression of stems and grass.

I did this one this morning. Again with pearl and metallic colors that don’t show in the photo. The cell like spots are one of the effects caused by blending the colors as well as the pour medium used. (Pour medium is a fluid medium added to paint to make it flow better) This is a new technique for me and so far I’m liking my results.

All of the photos I have used are what is referred to as wet results. The paint hasn’t had a chance to dry, and that can change the look of the colors. It can make them seem darker or dull. I finish mine with a varnish which adds a nice shine to the painting, and makes the colors “pop” again.

I hope you have enjoyed the paintings as much as I did creating them. Feel free to check out my instagram to see some of my other works. . . . . .or shop. . . . you know, if you like something. 😉
